It's January 2025! If you live in St. Johns County, FL here are 3 things you may want to do this month.
1) If you bought a home last year as your primary residence, apply for a homestead exemption. This exemption provides several significant benefits including savings on your annual property taxes, limiting the annual $ increase of the assessed value of your homestead property, and providing legal protection against most creditors. While you're at it, check out other available exemptions you may qualify for on the SJC Property Appraiser website.

2) Do you go to the beach often? Buy your 2025 beach driving pass now. From March through September, there’s a fee for accessing St. Johns County drive-on beaches. You can pay a daily fee or buy a resident seasonal pass for $50 or non-resident pass for $100. More info about the beaches and passes are available at this link. Be sure your vehicle meets the suggested requirements, or you may end up having to pay someone to pull you out when you get stuck. Even worse? The shame of it all. A photo of your stuck car may be posted on one of several social media groups created for that very purpose.
3) Celebrate National Popcorn Day on January 29th. If you need an excuse to eat popcorn (is that even a thing?), this day is for you. And if you want to try a few of their 60 flavors(!) of gourmet popcorn, check out the Poppin Box in the Julington Creek area. They aren't open on Sundays but if you'd like to join me to sample a few and take home your favorite, I'd love to meet you there on Mon, 1/30. Message or text me to let me know what time you'd like to meet.
